Inoran is the quiet, deep former guitarist of Luna Sea (a very good one at that). He is the one who wrote such Luna Sea songs like "Mother", "Vampire's Talk", "Claustophobia", and the more recent "Gravity". You can most always tell which ones he wrote because most of his songs have a more dark, moody tone.
When Inoran was growing up, he showed interests in sports. He was a left hand pitcher. In the game is where he go the name "Inoran" too. Once, in a game, he hit the ball and ran. The others were cheering for him, yelling "INO, RUN!!". But the Japanese pronounced the word "run" and "ran", so it turned out to be "INORAN".
Once he went to junior high, his interest shifted to music, and he started to become more quiet. He bought some American rock records, and watched music shows. In that same time period, he met J, one of his classmates who wanted to borrow one of his records. They went to high school together and in 1986, formed a band called "Lunacy". In 1989, the other members of Lunacy went to college, leaving Inoran and J. So they joined together with 2 members of a rival band called "Pinocchio". These 2 new members were Sugizo and Shinya. They still needed a vocalist, so they recruited a person from another band named "Slaugter". This was Ryuichi.
In the same year, the new "Lunacy" released 3 demo tapes, of which Inoran wrote 3 songs, "Nightmare", "Suspicious". and "Lastly". During this time, Inoran handled the band's finances while holding odd jobs also.
In 1990, the band changed it's name to "Luna Sea". And they went on to be the successful band that they have become.
In 1997, Luna Sea went on a "pause" for the members to start solo careers. This is when Inoran released his first solo album "Sou". This album is mostly composed of other people singing, such as Anneli Drecker on the "Monsoon Baby" track.
Later on, Luna Sea got back together and took on a whole different look, more conservative and FAR less visual.
In December of 2000, Luna Sea announced that they would be breaking up, an "indefinite pause" (so they might get back together..I hope).
Inoran just released his new album "Fragment". And on this one, he sings all of his own vocal songs. Its a really great album.
